If you need help with Range, check the frequently asked questions below. If your question isn’t answered here, email info@getrange.app.
Where do fuel prices come from?
Range uses the UK Government’s Fuel Finder scheme and direct feeds from major retailer chains. Prices refresh automatically every 15 minutes.
Why are some prices missing or outdated?
Not all stations report every fuel type, and some retailers publish updates later than others. Prices refresh automatically every 15 minutes.
Why is a station missing from Range?
Range can only show stations that are included in the UK Government’s Fuel Finder scheme or the retailer feeds it supports. If a station doesn’t appear in those sources, it won’t show up in the app yet.
Why am I not receiving price alerts?
Check that notifications are turned on for Range in your iPhone’s Settings. Some alert features also require Range Plus.
What are area price drop alerts?
You pick a location and a radius, and Range watches all the stations in that area. You’ll get a notification when prices drop — either at any station or only when there’s a new cheapest price.
What’s the difference between station alerts and area alerts?
Station alerts track one specific station. Area alerts watch every station within a radius you choose and let you know when any of them drop in price.
Why aren’t my widgets showing data?
Widgets pull data from the app. Open Range at least once so it can fetch prices, then your widgets will update.
Does the Apple Watch app work without my iPhone nearby?
Yes, but the data shown depends on the last sync from your iPhone. If the watch has its own location (GPS or Wi-Fi), it can also show what’s nearby.
How does the savings calculator work?
It works out the total cost of filling up at each station, including the petrol you’d use driving there. Set your MPG and tank size in Settings for accurate results.
What fuel types are supported?
Unleaded, Super Unleaded, Diesel, Premium Diesel, Biodiesel, and HVO.
What can I ask Siri?
Just ask naturally — things like “What’s the cheapest petrol near me in Range”, “Where’s the nearest garage in Range”, “Compare diesel prices in Range”, or “How much to fill up in Range”. Siri understands common names like petrol, diesel, derv, super, premium, E10, and more. You need to say “in Range” so Siri knows which app to use.
Can I tap on stations in Siri results?
Yes — tap any station to open it in Range for full details and price history. Single-station results also have a Directions button that opens Apple Maps.
How do I set up Siri Shortcuts?
Open the Shortcuts app, tap +, and search for “Range”. You’ll see actions like Cheapest Fuel, Closest Station, Compare Prices, Cheapest Fill-Up, and Fuel Savings.
Does Siri use my preferred fuel type?
If you don’t mention a fuel type, Siri uses whichever one you’ve set in your vehicle settings. The result will say “Vehicle Default” so you know. You can always ask for a specific type, like “Cheapest super unleaded in Range”.
What is the Fuel Savings shortcut?
It compares your nearest station with the cheapest one nearby and tells you whether the detour is worth it — showing how much you’d save on fuel, what the extra drive costs in petrol, and the net result.
Does Range track my location?
Range uses your location on your device to show nearby stations, work out distances, and estimate savings. Your location is never sold or shared.
Can I use Range without Location Services?
Yes — you can still browse the map. Distances and the savings calculator won’t be available since they need your location to work.
What is Range Plus?
A one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited station alerts, area price drop alerts, route search, and 30-day and 90-day price history.
Why can’t I see price history for a certain station?
Price history builds up over time as Range collects snapshots for each station and fuel type. Some stations may not have enough history yet. Seven-day history is available to everyone, while 30-day and 90-day history require Range Plus.
I purchased Range Plus on another device, how can I activate it here?
Go to Range Plus in Settings and tap “Restore Purchases”. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID.
